Il  Teatro della Memoria   was founded in 1979 on the initiative of Aleardo Caliari, as a theater company operating outside of official channels. Initially consists of a group of actors and musicians already active professionally in the second half of the ’60s and young people their first experience. The group meets then in a typical building of the old Milan (“La Casa di Via Torino”) used as a place of meeting and rehearsal room.

The group’s artistic identity is defined through a research work on Italian, French and German Cabaret at the end of the ’800 and the first half of 900. Monologues and plays, pantomimes and songs in their original language are revisited so looking at the 900 European culture as a whole. The Company begins his professional career with the show “Cabaronde” in the spring of 1980 at the “Teatro Arsenale” of Milan.

Nel corso di tutti gli anni ’80, la Compagnia sviluppa ed approfondisce questo filone rappresentando numerosi spettacoli in spazi prevalentemente non convenzionali, come Centri Sociali, Dopolavori, Centri Anziani ed all’aperto per strade e piazze, nei parchi e nei giardini. Occasionalmente nei Teatri.

Tra gli spettacoli più significativi di questo periodo ricordiamo il Festival Nazionale del Cabaret di Rimini (1982), il Cafè Chantant in Avanspettacolo alla selezione di film muti con accompagnamento dal vivo per Week-end a Milano (1983), il cabaret neo-futurista Soft Cabaret, presentato a Milano Poesia (1987).

Nel corso degli anni ’80, lavorano con la Compagnia numerosi artisti già affermati e non, tra cui i musicisti Ferdinando Onesti, Giovanni Del Giudice, Giuliano Zosi, Carlo Boccadoro; il regista Lorenzo Vitalone; gli attori Aleardo Caliari, Nadia Furlon, Alessandra Faiella, Annig Raimondi, Patrizia Costa, Arrigo Lora-Totino, Tino Mazzoleni, Adriana Libretti, Ambra D’Amico.

Nel corso degli anni ’90 la Compagnia ruota attorno alla coppia d’interpreti formata da Aleardo Caliari e Chicca Minini. La parte musicale è affidata sempre a musicisti di grande livello ed esperienza, come Jacqueline Perrotin, Roberto Negri, Paolo Beretta, Loris Peverada.

The places of entertainment become theaters, including in Milan the “Teatro delle Erbe”, the “Piccola Commenda”,  the “Teatro della XIVa”, the “Teatro Ringhiera, the “Teatro Nuovo”. The repertoire expands to the variety theater of the Italian tradition, to musicals and operetta. Become part of the group soprano Ivana Turquoise Colavito. The director Paola Carnovale cared a special edition of the show Chantant First Cafe 900 at the Teatro Lirico Coccia in Novara and then the new productions of the show.

In the second half of the 90s the company develops a literary and musicological research on the theaters and the traditional songs  of  Milan and Lombardy. Are then staged performances Ona serada meneghina (1995), Lu e lee da i Cinq Giurnad al dì d’in coeu (1997).

Since 1999, the theater company directed by Aleardo Caliari has opened his own theater space in Milan: the “Theatre of Memory”, street Cucchiari 4, a cozy 100-seat theater which hosts young theater companies and individual artists in keeping with its cultural line. Until now, in the course of eleven seasons theater Theatre of Memory brought the Milanese public more than 500 theaters to which must be added another 350 of Children’s Theater.

In the “Theatre of Memory” have performed great artists of the theater in Milan and Italian as Gianni Mantesi, Grazia Migneco, Roberto Negri, Piero Mazzarella, Liliana Feldmann, Nanni Svampa, Walter Valdi, Rosalina Neri, Roberto Brivio, Mirton Vaiani, Enrico Beruschi, Memo Remigi, Oscar Prudente and famous directors such as Vito Molinari, Filippo Crivelli, Rino Silveri
